Every room deserves to feel like a retreat, especially the primary bathroom.
For this Finksburg, MD homeowner, the goal was simple: transform a dark, dated space into a bright, relaxing oasis that matched the rest of their beautifully updated home. Our team at Goode Design, Painting, and Wall Covering was excited to bring that vision to life.
Bringing Light and Balance to a Busy Space
When we first stepped into this Finksburg bathroom, we saw a lot of potential hidden beneath its darker tones. The room featured elegant tile work, a separate glass shower enclosure, and a corner soaking tub—all great features that were being overshadowed by a color scheme that felt heavy. The homeowners wanted to preserve the timeless design elements while giving the space a fresh, modern lift.
To achieve that, we recommended a light, neutral wall color with soft undertones to reflect light throughout the room. The new tone complemented the natural stone tile and dark bronze accents beautifully, creating a sense of warmth without feeling stark.
Careful Preparation for a Flawless Finish
Bathrooms can be one of the trickiest rooms to paint, and this one was no exception.
With a large mirror, glass panels, built-in cabinetry, and detailed trim work, every edge required precision. Before we began, we carefully prepped the entire space, protecting tile, fixtures, and surfaces from any paint contact.
Humidity is also a factor in any bathroom project, so we chose a moisture-resistant paint formulated to withstand daily use and changing temperatures. This ensures that the beautiful finish will last for years without peeling or fading.
Details That Make the Difference
Once the walls and ceiling were complete, we shifted our focus to the trim, doors, and cabinetry.
The existing cabinets were in good shape structurally, but the finish had dulled over time. A fresh coat of durable residential paint in a crisp, clean tone brought them back to life and added contrast against the softer wall color.
Together, the new color palette created harmony between the tile, fixtures, and natural light pouring in from the window. The bathroom instantly felt larger, brighter, and more cohesive—a true reflection of the homeowner’s style.
A Transformed Space
The finished bathroom now feels calm, open, and thoughtfully designed.
The lighter tones enhance the architectural details, while the darker accents on the shower frame and fixtures add just the right amount of contrast. What was once a utilitarian space has become a comfortable retreat that complements the rest of the home’s interior updates.
The homeowners were thrilled with the results, sharing how much they loved the clean, refreshed atmosphere and how much more enjoyable their daily routine felt in the new space.
